He said this as the chief guest at the review meeting of the Rajshahi division district and metropolitan BNP and its affiliate organizations at the Badalgachhi Upazila Parishad auditorium in Naogaon on Thursday afternoon. He also announced action against leaders and activists involved in extortion.

Advisor to BNP Chairperson Abdus Salam said, ‘Many of the central leaders know that Tarique Rahman’s telephone has been turned off for many. Tarique Rahman does not answer many people’s telephones. Understand who he does not answer the telephone.’
He said this as the chief guest at the review meeting of the district and metropolitan BNP and its affiliate organizations of Rajshahi division at the Badalgachhi Upazila Parishad auditorium in Naogaon on Thursday afternoon. He also said that action will be taken against the leaders and workers involved in extortion at the meeting.
Addressing the party leaders and workers, Abdus Salam said, ‘People think that BNP is honest. BNP will never do anything wrong. BNP is number 1 in terms of honesty. So we have to win the hearts of the people with that honesty. Now others are stealing, we may have a few drops. But for that, we have taken action against them. If anyone is still there, then tell them to go to the side line. They should not come near the leadership.’
This central leader of BNP said, ‘Years cannot be passed in the name of justice, in the name of reforms. The Hasina who sometimes says that she will study AISA. She is still the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. That is why I say, Dr. Yunus, you have to stop this conspiracy. There is no alternative to stopping the conspiracy except an elected government and elections. That is why we want elections.’
Abdus Salam further said, ‘We want elections. Tarique Rahman must be made the Prime Minister, for that we do not just want elections. We definitely want that. To run the country, we need a leader like Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman. It is clear that if BNP comes to power, it will be able to stop hegemony. It will be able to reform the economy that is being destroyed today. That is why BNP wants to come to power. We form a party, we do politics, yes, we will come to power, we do it for the sake of coming to power. How will there be change if we don’t come to power?’
The meeting, chaired by Rajshahi Division Organizing Secretary Amirul Islam Khan Alim, was addressed by Jubo Dal Central Committee General Secretary Mohammad Nurul Islam, Swechchhasebak Dal Vice President Fakhrul Islam, BNP Rajshahi Divisional Joint Organizing Secretary AHM Obaidur Rahman Chandan, Naogaon District BNP Convener Abu Bakkar Siddique, Member Secretary Bayezid Hossain, Krishak Dal Central Committee Joint General Secretary, Badalgachi Upazila BNP President Fazle Huda Babul, among others.
